ABOUT US

We're Shal and James, the husband-and-wife team behind Two Carry-ons, One Bucket List. We've been travelling together for as long as we've been together.
It all started with a whirlwind trip through Morocco in 2010, where we got gloriously lost in the Marrakech medina, hiked the Atlas Mountains, and stayed in a beautifully restored palace in Fes.
We've now explored 33 countries across 53 trips, visited 96 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and learned that the best trips aren't about doing more. They're about choosing better.
We’ve never believed in saving the good wine, the dream trips or the spectacular views for “one day.” We’d rather make the memories while our knees still work and we can still manage two cocktails before the hangover kicks in.
When New York City was home, we spent all our free time exploring Central and South America, chasing wonders of the world (and tacos), before moving across the pond to the UK in 2013.
These days, we still keep things interesting. One of us books the trip, the other shows up with a passport and blind trust. So far, no regrets.
This blog is where we share the unexpected places, living traditions, and exceptional stays that ruined us for ordinary travel. And yes, after 17 years, we're still travelling with just two carry-ons and one bucket list that seems to only be getting longer.
